Buses

THREE BUSES OPERATE FROM SCHOOL:

The Glen
Dodson Valley / Brooklands
Trafalgar

If a student does not fall within the qualifying zone (basebasd on MOE guidelines), then there will be a $240 charge per year or ($60 charge per term).

If the bus numbers reach capacity through the year, we cannot guarantee that there will be a place for your child.

HOW PARENTS CAN HELP

To help make a school bus trip safe, caregivers who are dropping off / picking up students at the bus stop should:

When dropping students off at the bus get out of the car and go with them to the bus stop
When collecting students get out of the car and meet them a s they get off the bus, on the same side of the road that the bus has stopped, and go with them to the car.

This will help to stop students running across the road to or from the bus into the path of passing traffic.

Caregivers should also spend time with students going over the behaviour expected and to help them understand how they can keep themselves safe.

We believe that all our students should be able to use this service without harassment from others.

Child Behaviour

If your child is travelling on the bus, he / she / they must abide by the following rules:

AFTER SCHOOL

Bags to be put in the bus line before playing
When bell rings, move quickly to the bus line and stay quiet while the duty teacher calls the roll.
Walk down the path with the duty teacher and stay away from the curb until the buss has stopped.

ON THE BUS

All students must wear appropriate footwear on the bus
Find a seat quickly and remain there for the whole journey.
Respect other students and their property at all times. This includes pushing, verbal abuse, hitting or any other behaviour that may distract the driver.

GETTING OFF THE BUS

Wait until the bus has stopped then get off carefully without pushing.
Wait well back from the road until the bus has moved away.
If you need to cross a road, see adult help.

BEFORE THE BUS ARRIVES

Be sensible while waiting for the bus. If you are a senior student, look after the younger children. Many find this a scary time.

You can help by being a kind friend to them.

If children wish to travel intermittently on a different bus, a note is required to be sent to the office before 9am on the day of travel. This approval will be subject to current numbers on the bus in order to ensure safety.
